Every free source this manual relies on, grouped by subject, with who publishes it, what kind of source it is and the date we checked it.
Every free source this manual cites, grouped by subject. Each was fetched and read on 2026-10-21; we check every link again on 2027-10-21. Codes and standards are cited as published reference figures, never as rules for your home: the ADA Standards cover public buildings, the International Residential Code is law only where a state or city adopts it, and the NKBA figures come from its free summary, which predates its paid 2026 edition.
Nothing here is sponsored, and no link carries a referral or tracking code. The paid courses at the end are listed only because we compared their topics when we planned this manual; we do not recommend buying them. Retailer pages (Article, Joybird, Room & Board, Living Spaces, IKEA) are cited for their measuring methods only.
